Dry Skin

There are many things that can cause bouts of dry skin. Whether it’s a harsh environment or a diet that has somehow become off kilter or even a little of both, dry skin can not only look unhealthy, it can feel prickly and itchy. There are many ways, however, to bring back the balance of healthy skin.

During certain times of the year such as winter, it is not uncommon to get that dog dry skin that comes from a lack of moisture in the air. For the most part this can be alleviated with a layer of thick lotions with emollients for dry skin treatment. Most everyone has as idea of what the best lotion for dry skin is when it comes to their own dry skin therapy. A lack of certain minerals in the body can dog itching, dry skin and make it even worse. Taking vitamin E and using a humidifier can also be helpful as part of the treatment.

Dry skin on the face is a delicate matter as the skin is thinner and more delicate than other areas of the body. It requires a special balance of a dry skin care product that will put moisture back in the skin without clogging pores. Typically, a dry skin cleanser and moisturizer treatment used regularly helps to keep problems at bay. Applying a good moisturizing foundation for dry skin can also be a good part of the routine. Even though it is generally a rule for oily skin and fragrance, dry skin types should avoid perfumes as well, since additives can aggravate any type of skin.

Sometimes dry skin can be an indicator of a larger problem. Diabetes and dry skin often go hand in hand. It is not uncommon for sufferers to have rough dry patches of skin on their bodies that no amount of dry skin care techniques or ingredients can seem to help. That is when it comes time to see a doctor.

Other times, what is just a simple case of dry skin can also be helped with a dry skin brush to help remove dead skin cells from the body. There are also many resurfacing dry skin care products to specifically help with this problem. It is very important to be gentle with dry skin brushing as to not damage the skin itself during treatment. This buffing of the skin removes impurities and increases circulation, something else that is good for the skin.
